10 Bankers Thrown Behind Bars

Reposted from the Huffingtonpost.com

Ex-Goldman director Rajat Gupta is going to jail for two years for insider trading, where he'll be joining some of his former peers.
There’s the infamous Bernie Madoff, who is currently serving a 150-year prison sentence for his decades-long multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme that wiped out the life savings of millions of people. But most in the finance industry doing time for white collar crime aren’t dealing with a sentence as stiff as Madoff’s. That’s because his crime represents “extraordinary evil,” according to the judge that sentenced him -- deserving of a prison term on par with that of terrorists, traitors and violent criminals.
More often, white collar criminals serve much shorter terms, similar to Gupta's. One example: Jerome Kerviel was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison and ordered to pay a $7 billion fine for trading fraud.
Of course, some critics say more bankers should be going to jail, but it's unlikely that bankers and executives that played a major role in the financial crisis will end up behind bars. And if they're punished at all, those debts to society will likely be paid in dollars, not years behind bars.
10 Bankers & Investment Brokers Sentenced to Prison Time

Rajat Gupta
Ex-Goldman Rajat Gupta was sentenced to two years in prison for participating in one of the largest insider trading schemes in history.
Jerome Kerviel
Kerviel was found guilty of one of the world's most colosal trading frauds in 2010. He cost France's Société Générale bank 4.9 billion Euros. He was sentenced to 3 years in jail and was also sentenced to paying a $7 billion fine, The Guardian reports.
Steven Goldberg, Peter Grimm and Dominick Carollo
Goldberg, Grimm and Carollo were found guilty of conning the I.R.S. and cities in a "bid-rigging scheme" during their time at General Electric,Businessweek reports
Raj Rajaratnam
Raj Rajaratnam, the former head of Galleon Management, was sentenced to 11 years in jail in October 2011, the longest prison term for insider trading to date, The Washington Post reports.
Bernie Madoff
In what is now considered to be one of the biggest and most famous Ponzi schemes in history, Madoff laundered about $65 billion, Forbes reports. Madoff defrauded thousands of investors, all of whom can be found on a 163-page list.
Nick Leeson
During Nick Lesson's time at Bristain's Barings Bank, he lost 862 million pounds and even managed to level the 233-year-old bank itself, according to The Telegraph. He served four years in a Singapore jail before he was released early with life-threatening cancer.
Allen Stanford
Currently serving 110 years in prison, Allen Stanford was, at one time, one of the richest men in America, according to CNBC. He conned about 20,000 investors out of their money in a Ponzi scheme.
Garth Peterson
Garth Peterson, the former head of Morgan Stanley's Chinese real-estate investments unit, was sentenced to 9 months in jail last August for bribery, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Bradley Birkenfeld
Bradley Birkenfeld spent more than 2 years in jail for assisting in income tax evasion while working at UBS. He then volunteered inside information on Swiss banking to the I.R.S., and was rewarded with $104 million for being a whistle-blower, according to The New York Times.
Dennis Levine, Martin Siegel, Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken defrauded Wall Street investors in the 1980's. In a scandalous series of events, Levine stole confidential documents from Lazard Freres investment bank, and the crew made use of inside information, according to The Daily Beast.

  2. Hmmm...well, I think money is just a form of currency. It's created from the consciousness of whoever has desired it....and to those who have learned and desired to manifest it, I say good for them (not thieve it from others, there's a big difference there). A lot of fun and a lot of good can be had/done with it! So why not love it. It's a physical/material world as well here. No difference, just different form. If there is any evil/sin, and I don't really think there is, it's only in seeing limitation in a form anywhere.
I wonder who really said that "money is the root of all evil". If it was someone truly knowledgeable, I think it's a half explained statement....go on Timothy...and??
How can the tiny subatomic particles that make up a bit of paper or plastic be unlovable? Sounds like the Catholic church making sure it keeps most of it, to me. :-/
Sorry Greg, too far I'm sure...ahhh... no need to print this :-)

  3. Hi All, hi One. Nothing to do with this topic (and thank you for it btw), but I wanted to mention I picked up a copy of Journey of Souls today and although I'm only on p27 I know I'm going to have a hard time putting it down.
What a source of comfort it would be to anyone who's grieving the loss of a loved one. Thanks to you, I'll pass it along and many I know will benefit from it thanks to the ripple. x

  5. Most of this is old news. When are the bankers and politicians associated with the still on going 2008 crash going to get justice? There's probably a LOT more than 10.

  7. here, here.i care about you.(sorry, dont want to sound political in this!)i think not having money makes life simpler!
just think of all the responsibilities these people who have this sort of money must endure.
and its thier own fault.i only have a few meagre possesions, but i also have the truth,
i shouldnt imagine any of these sort of people even consider ascension, thier minds are too clouded by greed and other delusions.i suppose thats one benefit of being lower working class, desperation is liberation.

  8. Pretty soon, money will have to go...ugggrrr no uglier thing than money...I know money means material energy n manifestation to some BUT not these days when the system in control of it is unfair n run by the underground who control it all for themselves. New energy is the new Earth we should aim to manifest equally freely for all ... look up to heaven for our needs now on as from there that will the new Earth come from! That is how Gaia shall ascend with us on it...a tropical paradise for all who have shed out the skin we call the Ego mind in order to dwell in the heart vibration instead <3 It's a prophecy. It is written and it will come true.

Sometimes playing hunting the thieves is great if we're playing the police role...poor souls, they got greedy, but God still loves them unconditionally...karmic punishment is just an illusion every soul can choose to wake up from now if they see us in themselves. see ya later. please dont show us ego by taking offence!

  12. We're all participating in this much corrupted worldwide economical scheme where the world's poorest residents are systematically used to feed the world's minority who(still)enjoy some kind of wealth, anyway quite seldom are starving. Realize and accept that this is Truth, and nothing but a Truth, and Stop this silly projection on certain individual economical criminals who made it all through as a way of living. Really, we are all made it unawaringly as a way of living even if we are writing this sitting in cheap plastic chairs!

It´s surely high time to leave the global Pyramids of Ego-pt, and it must be we ourselves, we humans, who has to make this final Exodus and look for the promised land of milk and honey to Everyone on this planet, not just to the few. Surely, though, we need all help we can get to build these alternatives to how fair finances, i.e. exchanging forms of energies, can work in True Justice. A system where today’s 99% -Every man, woman and child would receive wealth, and not just the pharaonic economical priesthood at the top with their smooth talk, well-polished shoes and neat ties.

I think a recommended study might be what already, in this very Now, is happening in many of the African countries, and other parts of the developing world as Afghanistan, Bangladesh and India. The cruel and horrific Financial Walls between people have to, and will, ultimately Fall if this world is to survive, but maybe we have to stop staring at what is happening merely at the tops of the financial pyramids, like Wall Street – All Real Revolutions, included the Peaceful ones, starts really from beneath, at the base of the hierarchical structure that surpresses a people.

Please, use your inherent, but also built up, skills of Discernment, and in the same time bury deep down into earth every temptation of Judgment on others that may pop up when you are summoned to take the fight for a world relieved of repression. We may see this repression wholly outside ourselves, externalizing it to certain individuals far from our own reality, or we may also see our very OWN part of this global pyramidal scheme where the movement of Earth´s resources only have this, the same one-way direction; a single movement upwards in the pyramid of the flow, But where every single step of this pyramid uses all the resources of those steps beneath it to feed itself. We, the citizens of a very small part of the planet have to realize our own part of this dark global game, being, maybe wholy unawaringly, like some “paid” Cabal Minions or Agents of this filthy global injustice. I mean, how the fuck did these things really come to us; all these diverse gadgets, all produced Iphones, the very computer you write on, any T-shirt or any fotball hand sawn by children and made available for us and not for them? So, who made all this, and what did They really get in return? Wealth?

Who would then be the target for our projections?!

  13. Hello Linda, I am glad you asked about Timothy's comment. I'm sure the last thing he would want is to be unclear. Many people believe that phrase "money is the root of all evil " as you mentioned. However the actual quote is the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Not money itself. Money is just a tool like most other things in life. It can be used to save a life, or used to pay for a murder. But like you say, it's really just a resource.

When someone starts to love money, then the problems begin. They may neglect their family in pursuit of more money, they may try to keep up with the Joneses instead of giving to their neighborhood homeless shelter. It can become an evil circle if it gets out of hand.

As for who Timothy was, the Apostle Paul was his mentor. It has nothing to do with the Catholic Church as they didn't write the Bible, God did. The great thing about the Bible is that you don't have to belong to any religion to read it. God wrote it to all His children, no matter what religion they pick in life. Sorry about going off topic, I got on a roll. :-)

  14. The attribution of the scripture alluded to is correct. It was written by the apostle Paul to one of his students, Timothy, in the first century. In context it says "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." He is not saying that money itself is evil, but rather that the love of money for its own sake, can (and has) led to evil. We all know that there are dark souls in this world that have done much evil in their single-minded pursuit of it. It doesn't need to be that way, and money needn't be with us forever. Also, just because this is Christian scripture does not mean that it does not contain wisdom. We must release our need to condemn and judge that with which we disagree if we are to ascend. Just let all that go. There should be no judgement. It is either true or it is not.

  15. Guys, really? There's a huge polarity between being greedy which comes from the belief that there's not enough so I better keep it all, and being wealth creative. Wonderful opportunities comes to those who are ripe with passion for creating, and that may well include making this world better for others, some of which can be done in many ways with MONEY. I personally know people who have created great wealth and have used it to uplift and provide for others, affecting lives of so many in profound ways. I don't know them to have ever had an attitude of lack in that regard, and if they did they never could have created abundance.
Please know that there are people out there in the millions who are working in ways to improve this place, and they're not all poor!
My teacher once said "God doesn't do anything but ignite the Will of the dreamer and approve everything". I agree, and I think God says "as you wish".
    I'm done xxx

N get in trance n dance too??? You go girl, please do some manifestation work for us too...yay we'll all be ok soon. Linda is here! Save us with your visions Linda, you can do it! After all money is money. I stand corrected, you've really opened my eyes my lovely...how insightful are you :-) I'll do some money-making musical manifestation right away to feed Africa. We can do this thing, yay !!

  18. Thank you Anonymous for the complete context and yes, of course I understand that there's wisdom in it, but I was really responding to what I see is blind faith of a religious kind, and that 'desperation is liberation' just makes me sad.
Hello onewholivesinhope, thank you for your comment, and yes, I know what its intended meaning is but I get a bit hot under the collar when it seems that those who don't have money consider themselves as victims and that those who do have erred in some way.
I really don't want to talk about the bible (whoever wrote it) as I think there have been many hands that played a part in it. Much of it I do think is the word of God, but I would prefer a 'Course in Miracles'. I appreciate it your clarification though xxx
Bell: Great comment!!. Beautifully written, and I totally agree with you.

I still think we all need to dance! Greg :-/ I told you so xxx

  27. to whoever is posting articles on this website, i speak to you personally and would appreciate you reading the last words i will type into the comments box of ascension earth blogspot:

thank you for your reaction to the comments i have been trying to post, your censorship has confirmed much for me. i will be cautioning those who i know have ever visited or i think may visit this site, though many of us have contacted eachother and have been talking about this issue and have come to a consensus, although i was not done shedding truth, and i needed a certain form of affirmative to my suspicion, and i have now received it. thank you, you have given me the proof of a job well done, another test was aced by me.

i am sorry for those reading your stuff who have not reached here, and i feel sorry for whoever is disinforming through this site, but i want you to know that i personally forgive you, i forgive you with love, for someone once said "they know not what they do" - and even if this was some mad genius reptilian grey...this still applies to you, for you truly know not, what you do. but i forgive you

thank you for teaching me, i think i have finalized this lesson, and i will move on to another one now, a better one, thank you for being my training ground. but i have outgrown...this.

  29. Linda, I assure you, I did have a smile on my face when I wrote my comment, but in truth, I've had little reason to smile the last couple of years. Maybe my unfortunate recent past imprints itself onto my words, and makes them seem dour. They were not intended to be so. I rarely comment on blogs, and for this very reason, perhaps I should not. So, be of good cheer. In future, I promise I shall leave the commenting to far merrier folk than I, and to the ascending. BTW, thanks for the lead on Journey of Souls.

  30. @ onewholivesinhope: Hi Nick!! So nice to meet you! I totally agree with you as indeed love n compassion does grow this way...we have to be in it to see it or at least try...the victimhood i speak of with people is of a silent kind...i have studied so many court cases in the last three years and you don't always see fairness or justice, in fact the law has become so conflicting n time gets wasted, money gets wasted etc, it's ridiculous and if you look at where tax payers' money go too at the end of financial years...that's ridiculous too...i feel great compassion n empathy for people because i know not from an outsider's point of view but from an insider's knowledge how sick the systems are getting worse and worse, but anyhow, I'm leaving all this blogging and discussions etc behind me now...it was nice getting chatting etc Greg, but just the way i'm having a break from law school n all things to do with debates, i'm leaving behind blogging now...i dont wanna be followed around anymore either by old friends or new ones...n above all, you're a really seriously nice person for having put up with my teasing for so long but it was all out of a joy spirit but i know it can come acroos as mean n ridiculous but i know you didn't think that since you did post my silly comments (again) as above! Now, if you will please excuse me, i got some trees n flowers in mind, honey bees n all things fairy-like n angelic in nature. Bye bye 3D and welcome 12 D !!! lOVE n more love always to u, Glenn n my favourite puppy of the Light...SaLusa....>>>

  31. Dear Anonymous: Please don't stop commenting on account of me. I'm sorry but I've looked and I can't even see the comment you are referring to, unless it was your comment that I agreed with and may have misunderstood your meaning. Either way, it's a big lesson here for me too in learning to be very careful to communicate only what's really at the heart of my view. To convey in the way I would want another with an opposing view to.
I truly do respect and I'm happy and grateful that we all have our individual views, and I would fight to protect our rights to express them. It sounds like you've seen from my retaliation yesterday to a couple of posts that I have no problem speaking up for the right to express my own view :-D I'm laughing now because clearly the manner in which I do that is where my lesson lies. More contemplation required. We're all usually good at a one on one or in person, and when we're in a person's presence, they see more accurately what you really mean and you have that opportunity to elucidate when you can see they don't. Sometimes tricky business in text and when we have busy lives, but really it's ok.
The great thing about this site is that we all know we're all learning and those posting want to connect or else we wouldn't be. I hope that puts us all in a spirit of some mercy and forgiveness.
I'm hoping you keep posting if you ever have anything you want to say. It might be the exact compilation of words that mean the world to someone, even if you never even hear of it. We all take what we will from it anything anyway through our murky view which I think is more often than not a speck of what was meant by the writer.
I am in good cheer also, and I thank you and appreciate your thought to contact me. You have my best of thoughts for a beautiful future, things eventually pick up....I do know from my own experience. I said to my Dad recently, "you know, this life's no picnic". He replied by smiling and saying "no, I don't think it's meant to be", oddly then we both smiled.
The book Journey of Souls was recommended by Greg, and if you haven't read that message it's not too far down. Truly great in the hope and knowledge it offers.
God speed brightness your way, and please keep talking and sharing openly..it helps us all in some way. xxx
but God knows I can't possibly have much more to say soon???
